5 ceramic pottery vase shapes that are suitable for the raku coppermatte finish

When using a copper matte finish for my raku fired vases, the shape of the vessel plays and important role in the final end result. In my experience, these 5 ceramic vase shapes suit the raku coppermatte process best :
  1. Bottle or Flask-Shaped Vases: These vases have a narrow neck and a rounded body, often with a small opening at the top. They range in size from small to large, but tend to be short in height. They are best placed on a low table or shelf, as a single statement piece or as part of a larger arrangement.

  2. Cylinder-Shaped Vases: These vases have a straight sides and an open top, and are uniform in diameter throughout. They are typically tall and narrow, and can range in size from small to large. They can be used to create height in a floral arrangement, or as a standalone decorative piece.

  3. Bulb or Bulging Vases: These vases have a rounded body that is wider at the bottom and narrows towards the top. They are often wider than they are tall and come in a range of sizes. They make great centerpieces, either on their own or filled with flowers.

  4. Trumpet-Shaped Vases: These vases are wider at the top and gradually taper to a narrower base. They are typically tall and can be used to showcase a bouquet of tall, narrow flowers. They can also be used as a standalone decorative piece.
